Today was our first day of western civilization, and in class we watched a video called "Guns, Germs, and Steel." A geographer goes on a journey to discover history's biggest questions. He is in the island of New Guinea, and a man asked him why the 'white man' has more cargo than New Guinea people. Diamond thought about this question and started to further look into it and this is the main point of this whole video. It makes you wonder why this is, because it is not that one race is smarter than the other. New Guinea is actually thought to be the location where there were farmers for the first time. At one point in the video it talks about how the crops available in New Guinea have so much less nutrition, that this could be a major role in why America has had larger growth.
