I dont Even Know what to title this

21. First, the nile flooded, and when it receded it left rich soil and that allowed settlements to grow. Second, the flooding was like clockwork so Egyptians were able to recognize periods of time. Third, because it left this rich soil Egyptians were able to farm easier.

22. As a resting place for royalty or people in a high social class.

Book WOOORkkkkk

In class we did moreeee book work. It was 4th mod right before lunch, and really all I could think about was going to lunch. It was so boring and once I got to page 40 I was about ready to quit. I finally finished the notes early and had the rest of the class to just listen to music and do whatever. I have never been so happy to hear the bell ring and I booked it out of there to lunch.

ClASS tODay

Today in class we did an activity where we were given scenarios and we had to give an outcome similar to one that would be given in todays world. Then, we had to write down what the consequences would be according to Hammurabis code. What I noticed is that Hammurabis code is a lot harsher, especially compared to today.

Hummurabi's code of laws

Right now in class we are looking over Hummurabi's Code of Laws. A lot of laws on here are similar to laws we have today, but some of the laws are just plain weird. Right now I've gone through about the first 20 maybe, and one of the laws I see is  "If a holy woman opens a tavern door or enters a tavern for a drink, she shall be burned to death." Don't really understand this one, but I also don't exactly know what a tavern is. I'm pretty sure its like a bar but I could be totally wrong on that one. Another weird one that I see is, ." If any one be guilty of incest with his mother after his father dies, both shall be burned." This law is probably for the best. Some of the laws are really harsh though like,  "If an adopted son says to his adoptive father or mother: "You are not my father, or my mother," his tongue shall be cut off." Lets just say I'm glad I was born in todays world and not back then.

cLAsS tOday

Today in class we got back our tests, I got a 84 overall. My essay was apparently really good because I got a 24/25 and Mr. Schick wrote a lot of nice comments. Because of the 2 hour delay we had only 40 minute classes, and I don't really remember what we did for the rest of class. I know we looked at the new power point and took notes on it, but we only did that for maybe 10 minutes.

BoOk wOrK

Today in class we did more book work. I actually don't mind it because we get to listen to music and I think I can focus better when I'm listening to music while doing my work. Now most of the class is finished their book work and we are looking at Hammurabi's Code of Laws. I got a 80% on the test which is fine by me. Also the essay still hasn't been graded yet.

Book Work

Today in class we read the textbook and took notes. The chapter is about the 4 early river valleys. The 4 are: Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, and Indus Valley. The beginning of the chapter was mostly talking about Mesopotamia and the Fertile Crescent. This is where the city-state of Sumer is located

tEsT dAy

We took the test today and it actually wasn't that bad, a lot of questions on the test were ones that were on the pop quiz we took awhile ago. The essay is probably where I'll get the most points off because I just started writing a bunch and then I realized (after I already filled up a whole page) that none of it really made sense and I still had a lot to talk about. But I kept going and probably could've made it a lot better but once you're one page in there's really no backing out.

Test Tomorrow

Today was the first class we've had since last Monday and we picked up right where we left off. We finished the video Guns, Germs, and Steel, and we have a test on it tomorrow. I probably will fail but it's okay. It's currently 1:36 and I just want to go home and sleep. But I think we are just hanging out for the rest of class because we won't start anything in the 10 minutes we have left, especially because we have a test tomorrow. I'm probably going to play 2048 now.
